Prayer

I pray for you every night
To return to me with morning’s light
I must trust in my faith
To return you whole and safe

You bring me joy and life
Where there was sorrow and strife
Let me give you in return the same
Something real and not a game

I cannot seem to explain
How you cleared up the rain
That once clouded my every day
My life now bright, no longer gray

With each time we part
You carry with you all my heart
So hold it close and very tight
And know I protect you every night
